Loop signature 25: Tuning part 3 - Results of tuning a particular simple self-regulating process by several different methods.
October 2024, Editor's Choice, Michael Brown Control Engineering
A couple of SWAG methods of tuning were given in the previous Loop Signature article. I have tuned a simple self-regulating process using those methods, and two other tuning methods, one of them being the sophisticated Protuner tuning package, which is the system I employ. The tests were performed on a very accurate and powerful simulation package, and the results are compared below.

IO-Link master for the automation and IT world
October 2024, Fieldbus & Industrial Networking, ifm - South Africa
The decentralised IO-Link master modules from ifm serve as a gateway between intelligent IO-Link sensors and the fieldbus. Important information on the intelligent sensors can also be simultaneously sent. |
Reducing the carbon footprint by eliminating SF6
October 2024, Electrical Power & Protection, Schneider Electric South Africa
SF6 is a manmade gas widely used in the electricity industry for insulation and current breaking, and in medium- and high-voltage equipment. Unfortunately it is also the world’s most potent greenhouse gas. One important step is implementing SF6-free equipment in today’s modernised grid infrastructure.
