To improve its local manufacturing processes, WEG has taken delivery of two laser cutting machines and three bending machines. These have significantly increased productivity and efficiency, reducing internal delivery times, and ultimately customer lead times.

Now in the final stages of installation and commissioning, an important substation E-house facility at Sasol’s Upstream Production Sharing Agreement Project in Mozambique has relied on WEG Africa’s depth of experience, locally based technical infrastructure, and specialised skill sets.

This year, a rebranded WEG is poised to make a powerful debut with a renewed focus on innovation and sustainability.

WEG Africa’s Ghana operation has transformed into a fully-fledged branch. Through an expanded network of Value Added Resellers (VARs), the branch has boosted its capacity to deliver tailored and responsive solutions to a diverse customer base in West Africa.

WEG Africa has become the first OEM to produce medium-voltage softstarters in South Africa, reducing lead times for customers, and supporting the drive for local manufacture.

Starting out in 1994 to serve the metropolitan area with a range of low-voltage electric motors, WEG Africa’s Cape Town branch has grown. Testament to this is the fact that it has again outgrown its premises, and last year relocated to larger, well-equipped facilities in Richmond Business Park.
